With the 80th release since 1987, Ensemble zeitkratzer-drummer Maurice de Martin will publish his first Solo-Album. All music is performed and produced by himself, through times of pandemic solitude at his countryside farmhouse "Studio M" @ Hausdorf/Saxony.

In the center of this album, there is an unusual instrument: the "ţambal mic", which is a Romanian dulcimer, that was given to Maurice 25 years ago by a retired Romani wedding-music-master from the village Mârșa close to Bucharest. Maurice was scholar of Eastern European folklore at that time and studied the music by playing with the masters. They told him, he was the first western drummer, who they gave permission to perform with them. They also introduced Maurice to "Manele" (new Romani “Schlager”-Music). He kept this musical present in great honor by developing his own ţambal- and “Manele”-playing-style ever since.

The album pays respect to the practice of mutual intercultural influencing while highlighting the possibility of an emancipatory artistic "approximation" that gives a new home in individual authorship to an entity "that is not mine." This is done with a certain subtle humor that clearly distances itself from the pretentious insinuations of contemporary identity politics.
